Notes - Feb. 4th, 2009

BUY, BUY, BUY...

- Tim Connolly - C, Buffalo - Hampered by two long-term injuries this season, Tim is back and in fine form. He's playing on a line with Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville (Top line in Buffalo). He netted 2 more pts tonight, and is currently a pt/game player. Don't sleep on this guy, he'll help everyone for their playoff push.

- Niklas Kronvall - D, Detroit - This stud has been working magic on the back end of the Detroit D. Although he's overshadowing by the notables, Lidstrom and Rafalski, he's been putting up solid numbers as of late. 11 pts in his last 11 games. If you can get a d-man averaging 1 point per game on a daily basis, you've GOT to pick him up.

SELL, SELL, SELL...

- Tim Thomas - G, Boston - I know this may sound weird, considering I was flaunting how I added him early this season and it's paid dividends. But Manny Fernandez is coming back after his sick leave, creating a 50/50 goalie fight for the Boston Bruins. His value will go down significantly because of Manny's resurrection. SHOP him immediately while his trade value is still high. He's THEE best goalie in the league, and can get you top end offense.

- Patrick Kane - RW, Chicago - 4 pts in 15 games. Hmmm, you've gotta trade him! Chicago seems to be getting it done without him, due to their dynamic duo of Huet/Khabibulin. Kane's been doing close to nothing lately. Tout his potential, and how he plays on a line with another (underachieving) "Young Star", Toews.

THEY'RE GOING STREAKING...

- Jason Blake - LW, Toronto - I know all you Toronto haters won't like this, but hey - I'm a Canuck fan and I even want this guy on my team. Blake's been lights out as of late, and finding a hot winger this late into the season is tough. 14 freakin points, and 35 shots on goal in his last 8 games! That's BOSS! This guy is a streaky player, but you gotta ride him out til it's over.

- Jonas Hiller - G, Anaheim - Hiller has temporarily become the starter for the Ducks. Giggy has been playing dismal of late, actually...make that the entire season. No doubt Carlyle wants to send a message to J.S. Although the Ducks lost to Minni tonight 3-0, you should pick up Hiller if you're in need of a goalie. Giggy will be back in net as soon as Hiller starts to flinch.

HOT N' COLD...

- Dallas Stars - HOT - They are absolutely dominating right now. They're out of the cellar now, with 7 wins in their last 10 games. They're putting up big offensive numbers too, so betting the over in games involving the Stars is a must. Turco is back to his regular form too. TOOK LONG ENOUGH!

- Montreal Canadiens - COLD - Free Fallllin (8)...These guys are 4-6 in their last 10 and just lost a key ingredient to their season's success - Robert Lang. He'll be gone the entire season due to an achilles injury, so bet against these boys because they're going to drop until they make some trades..ie Vinny Lecavelier anyone?

- BOUS!

Preamble....BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...

Frankly, I am the Fantasy Hockey BOSS. I've won multiple pools, including Football, Baseball and Basketball. But my specialty is in Fantasy Hockey. My predictions seem to always go well, thus my fantasy team succeeds. I want to help everyone else in their desire to dominate their buddies so I've concocted this Blog. I'm gonna be updating you guys on a semi-weekly basis as to how to make your fantasy hockey team BETTER. There will be several sections in my articles:

"BUY, BUY, BUY"...
This section deals with the players that are HOT and you should seriously consider adding them, or trading for them. I will add additional info to help support my opinions.

"SELL, SELL, SELL"...
This section deals with players that are slowing down after maybe a week or two of terrible play. So my advice is to...TRADE these players.

"THEY'RE GOING STREAKING"...
This section will help advise you on the players i see begin to streak. They'll usually have to maintain a week of solid play for me to even consider them. These players are notorious for being streaky, but sometimes they'll continue the streak all season...perfect example is my pick-up of Tim Thomas, Nicklas Backstrom and David Krejci early this season. It's paid divideds I'll tell you HWHAT!

"HOT N' COLD"...
This section will delve into which teams I believe will streak into the post-season, or plummet like a sack of potatoes. This could prove beneficial to those who make SportsAction bets.

Basically I just wanna help you guys out. I'm a 20 year old, Simon Fraser University student with tons of time on his hands. I'll give timely, effective predictions as to how well or bad players/teams will do. I know this blog depends on the success of my predictions and there's no doubt it will. Hopefully you guys can participate in discussions and we can get this blog rip roarin'!
